Elephant Ear Cookies

This is a recipe I got from my mom's Martha Stewart Magazine.  Since it is Martha's recipe it takes a lot of steps to make these but they are worth it.  Cinnamon and sugar flavors are some of my favorites so when I saw these I knew I wanted to try them so I could offer them to my customers.  They are huge!  The glass in the photo above is a normal 16 oz. glass and as  you can see the cookies were as tall as the glass and I had to fan them out like a teepee around it.
They start with a dough rolled out thin, refrigerated.  Once it has set up again, you sprinkle a cinnamon, sugar, and ground pecan mixture on top and roll it up tight.  You then put it in the refrigerator again.  Once that has had time to cool, you cut off 1 inch slices and roll them out flat, you refrigerate them again.  After they have cooled again, you can then bake them, but you have to flip them over so they caramelize on both sides properly.  Definitely not my easiest cookies but they are delicious.
I will have these available for purchase with the price set at $3 per cookie or 2 for $5.  These will not be offered often due to the time it takes to make them, so if you know in advance that you want them in advance, please let me know.

Lemon Poppy Seed Bread

This is a recipe requested by some of the ladies at Hott Lox in Greenville.  I had never made this bread before but wanted to give it a try.  It turned out really nice.  The recipe didn't call for it but I made a lemon glaze to drizzle on top to give it an extra little sweet lemony punch.  You can purchase these loaves for $6 each.  If you know you want to purchase one of these, please let me know here or on my facebook page.  You can also reach me via telephone at 469-274-1115 or email touchofhomebread@gmail.com

Sweet Dinner Bread

Beer bread is a nice hearty bread that can have any flavor added to it.  You can try it just plain or have spices added of your choice such as garlic or rosemary to complement a meal.  Flavors need to be ordered in advance to ensure time for baking.  Otherwise it will be prepared for purchase in the basic style (which is delicious toasted for butter and jelly or melted cheeses).

This bread will be sold as a 9X5 loaf and cost is $4.

Snickerdoodles

This cookie is a soft moist selection with a hint of cinnamon and sugar.  Compliments tea and coffee any time of the day.

You can purchase these by the dozen for $3.50.  Cookies can also be sold in an assortment depending on what is available or pre ordered.

Banana Nut Bread

This classic was a recipe that was given to my mother by her grandmother.  It is a traditional banana nut bread that is a favorite by everyone who tries it.

This loaf is 9X5 and will be available for $7.

Cranberry Orange Harvest Bread

This bread is very hearty and flavorful.  I was given this recipe by a very close family friend Ticia Atkins.  She was passed this recipe from her Aunt Myrt when she was first married to her husband.
This recipe calls for cranberries, orange zest and juice and also has pecans.

The cost of this bread is $7 per loaf which is a 9X5.  If it is something you would like on your normal delivery dates, you can request it here, by telephone or via email.

Old Fashioned Pumpkin Bread

This is a recipe that I was given to my mother her grandmother.  She was known for her excellent baking skills.  She had very precise rules in her kitchen that we have all passed along throughout the years.
The ingredients are fresh pumpkin (I get them when they are in season and prepare them for freezing so I can make this family favorite year round), sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and chopped pecans.  You can alter the recipe and add raisins if that is your preference but this will need to be communicated to me in advance.

The cost for a whole 9X5 loaf is $5 and can be ordered in advance pending my normal delivery dates to ensure there are enough on hand.
